An audience with the Brian Jonestown Massacre, Shepherds Bush Empire, London 07/07/2012

Brian Jonestown Massacre support act Cate le Bon was a pretty awesome start to the night. Had never heard them before and the music varied from crazy distorted Nirvana style riffs to weird Bjork-like folk stuff. I guess they're promoting their Cyrk album because the cover was plastered everywhere - I picked up a copy and though it's pretty good, didn't have any of the heavy stuff I liked at the beginning of their set, ahwell.

Anton and Joel - The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Shepherd's Bush Empire, London
I generally avoid gigs and live music perfomances of any kind. It's not so much the retarded people, the ringing in my ears, or the extortionate cost of alcohol, it's just I don't think there's ever been a band outside of Nirvana, The Smiths and Joy Division that I've ever wanted to see live... and I won't be seeing them anytime soon.

However, having been introduced to the Brian Jonestown Massacre towards the end of last year by Chris, I have to say I absolutely shit. Not only are this band still alive, but, well... I can't really be bothered to go into it, I just suggest everyone go out and buy a copy of Bravery Repetition and Noise and thank me once they've heard it.

To press this point home just a little further, I literally broke a teenage girls hand and violently pissed myself in order to stay at the front of this show. I have but a few measly photographs to show of that night, but by God was it worth crippling that poor child....
